From May 26 to June 2, Guo Xueyi, Vice President of Central South University (CSU), joined a delegation from the China Education Association for International Exchange (CEAIE) to visit New Zealand and Australia. The delegation attended the Sixth New Zealand-China Higher Education Forum, the Australia-China University Presidents Forum, and the China-Victoria State University Dialogue. They also visited the University of Auckland, the University of Adelaide, the University of Melbourne, and Monash University, to expand cooperation and deepen scientific research collaboration with higher educational institutions in New Zealand and Australia.
On May 27, the Sixth New Zealand-China Higher Education Forum kicked off in Auckland, New Zealand. This event was jointly hosted by CEAIE and Universities New Zealand. Tang Jun, Counselor of Education from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in New Zealand, read out Ambassador Wang Xiaolong's letter of congratulations to the forum. Penny Simmonds, Minister for the Tertiary Education and Skills of New Zealand, Dawn Freshwater, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Auckland, and Fu Bo, Deputy Secretary-General of CEAIE gave opening remarks.
On May 29, the Australia-China University Presidents Forum was jointly hosted by CEAIE and "The Group of Eight", Australia at the National Wine Center of Australia. There were over 80 attendees, including the Chinese delegation and presidents of eight comprehensive research universities, such as the University of Sydney, the University of Melbourne, and the University of Adelaide. At the forum, the participants engaged in deep conversations on the new development trend of higher education, scientific research innovation, talent cultivation, and commercialization of scientific and research findings in China and Australia.
On May 31, the China-Victoria State University Dialogue kicked off in Melbourne, Australia. The dialogue was jointly organized by CEAIE and "Study Melbourne". During the discussion session, Guo Xueyi, as the spokesperson of the Chinese side, elaborated on the exchange opportunities and challenges facing researchers from Victoria State and China and on how to boost regional scientific research and innovation through exchanges. He stated that visits exchanged by technologists between China and Victoria State effectively promote the economic and social development of China and Australia, and accelerate the progress of the two countries toward the global system of scientific and technological innovation.
During this trip, Guo Xueyi visited over 20 CSU students on exchange programs at Monash University.
