Major Achievements

To advance China’s national “Deep Earth” and “Deep Sea” strategies, CSU scientists have redefined current approaches to hard-rock mining in complex geological environments. Their research established a new theory of rock fracture under coupled static and dynamic loading and introduced micro-disturbance, low-settlement technologies for seabed-rock extraction. Adopted by nearly 100 organisations across more than 20 provinces, these innovations have produced cumulative economic benefits exceeding 10 billion RMB. The work was recognised with the Second Prize of the 2023 National Natural Science Awards.
