Dr. Zhao Zhongwei
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Expert in Rare Metal Metallurgy, Separation of Similar Elements, and Intensification of Metallurgical Processes
Dr. Zhao Zhongwei, a member of the Communist Party of China, holds a Ph.D. and is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at CSU. He is a Distinguished Professor under the Ministry of Education’s Changjiang Scholars Program and currently serves as Vice Dean of the School of Metallurgical Science and Engineering at CSU, Director of the Institute of Clean Metallurgy, a Member of the Metallurgical Physical Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Society for Metals, a Member of the Rare Metals Committee of the Nonferrous Metals Society of China, Vice Chair of the China Tungsten and Cemented Carbide Innovation Alliance, and Director of the Key Laboratory of Hunan Province for Metallurgy and Material Processing of Rare Metals. He has received one First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award (2011, ranked first), two Second Prizes of the State Technological Invention Award (2001, ranked fourth; 2018, ranked first), two First Prizes of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards (2009, ranked first; 2000, ranked fourth), and three Second Prizes of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Awards.
Biography

Dr. Zhao Zhongwei earned his bachelor’s (1989), master’s (1992), and doctoral (1995) degrees in Nonferrous Metallurgy from the Central South University of Technology (now CSU).

From 1998 to 2000, he conducted postdoctoral research in the Department of Materials Science at Nagoya University in Japan as a Ministry of Education-sponsored visiting scholar.

He was appointed Associate Professor at the Central South University of Technology in 1997 and promoted to Professor at CSU in 2000.

In 2005, he was selected for the Ministry of Education’s New Century Excellent Talents Program and recognized as a Hunan Provincial Academic Leader.

In 2007, he was selected for the national “Hundred, Thousand, Ten Thousand Talents Project”, and in 2009 he was again named to its national-level cohort.

In 2012, he was appointed a Distinguished Professor under the Ministry of Education’s Changjiang Scholars Program.

In 2022, Dr. Zhao was appointed Executive Vice President (Academic) of Zhengzhou University.
