Dr. Wang Dianzao
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Expert in Flotation Theory and Flotation Reagents
Dr. Wang Dianzao (born March 1934), a native of Jin County, Liaoning Province, is a distinguished mineral processing expert and the founder of the modern molecular design theory of flotation reagents. He is a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at CSU. Dr. Wang graduated from the Central South University of Technology (now CSU) in 1961, became President of the university in 1985, and was elected an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1991 and a founding Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1994. In 2010, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award of the International Mineral Processing Council, becoming the first Chinese recipient, in recognition of his pioneering contributions to flotation theory and to the advancement of mineral processing science and technology in China. Dr. Wang has long been committed to research on flotation theory and flotation reagents. Between 1980 and 1990, he published four monographs and numerous influential papers. His book Principles and Applications of Flotation Reagents received the National Excellent Textbook Award; Mineral Flotation and Flotation Reagents received the Excellent Monograph Award of the Central-South Region; and Flotation Solution Chemistry provided the theoretical foundations for flotation processes and became the basis for the flotation theory section of the Mineral Processing Handbook.
