
From March 1978 to December 1981, Dr. Tian Hongqi studied Railway Vehicles in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Changsha Railway University (now the School of Railway Engineering at CSU), earning her bachelor’s degree.
From January 1982 to April 2000, she progressed through a series of academic appointments at Changsha Railway University, including Teaching Assistant, Lecturer (from December 1986), Associate Professor (from May 1993), and Professor (from July 1997).
From September 1985 to December 1988, she completed her master’s studies in Locomotive and Rolling Stock at Changsha Railway University.
From September 1996 to December 1999, she pursued doctoral research in Fluid Mechanics at the China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, earning her Ph.D.
From April 2000 to September 2008, Dr. Tian served as Professor and Vice Dean of the School of Transportation Engineering at CSU.
She later served as Assistant to the President of CSU from September 2008 to April 2010, and as Vice President from April 2010 to June 2016. During this period, in December 2015, she was elected an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
From June 2016 to June 2017, she served as Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Dr. Tian has served as President of CSU since May 2017.
