The latest data of Essential Science Indicators (ESI) of Clarivate Analytics (the former Intellectual Property & Science of Thomson Reuters) updated on Nov. 15, 2018 (Beijing time) reveals that Environmental Science and Ecology of Central South University (CSU) enters for the first time the global top 1% disciplines listed in ESI. So far, the number of disciplines of CSU that have been listed in ESI global top 1% reaches 15, lifting the ranking of CSU among the universities under “Double First-Class” construction in China from the 12th to the 11th.
After this data update, the time period for article search in the database is Jan. 1, 2008 – Aug. 31, 2018. Statistics shows that CSU Geosciences published totally 470 ESI papers during this time period which have been cited 4343 times, ranking the 881st among 932 research institutions of which the discipline of Environmental Science and Ecology has entered global top 1%. According to the analysis of historical data, Environmental Science and Ecology of CSU has developed rapidly in recent years, with the increment in the number of citation times being 1,751 (estimated).
On the whole, the number of ESI papers of CSU has increased to 36,619 and citation times to 345,904, with the citation per paper reaching 9.45, improving the ESI ranking (by total citation times) of CSU among 5,757 institutions listed in ESI global top 1% from the 405th in Sep. 2018 to the 400th.
