On October 18, the 10th International Graduate Scholarship Fair (IGSF), hosted by China Scholarship Council (CSC) and organized by Central South University (CSU), was held at the stadium of CSU's new campus. This event brought together 110 representatives from 60 world-renowned universities and institutions in 12 countries, including University of Cambridge, University of Alberta, University of Auckland, and Monash University. Open consultations, one-on-one interviews, and special lectures were organized on-site.
At the briefing meeting before the opening of the Fair, the director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges gave a brief introduction to CSU in terms of its scale, faculty team, development history, discipline construction and international exchanges. Representatives from 30 schools, including the Business School, School of Civil Engineering, Xiangya School of Nursing, and School of Information Science and Engineering, carried out on-site communication with foreign universities to discuss inter-university exchange and cooperation projects, including student exchanges, faculty training and research cooperation.
During the Fair, undergraduate and graduate students from a number of universities, including CSU, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Hunan University, Hunan Normal University, and Changsha University of Science and Technology, visited the booths of their interested universities for consultation. Lectures on specific topics were given by universities and institutions such as CSC, University of Auckland, University of Manchester, Victoria University of Wellington, the US Embassy in China, the Australian Embassy in China, and the Council for Higher Education of Israel. Many students said that it is a rare opportunity to get in touch with so many prestigious universities from around the world. Through on-site communication and exchanges with the admissions officers of the universities, they have a clearer plan for studying abroad. Many students also received preliminary offers.
IGSF has been held for 9 consecutive sessions since 2009, aiming to support the implementation of the national construction of high-level university public graduate projects, provide a face-to-face communication platform for well-known foreign universities and outstanding Chinese students, and strengthen cooperation between domestic and foreign universities in graduate education. In October this year, the 10th IGSF will be held at Beihang University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, CSU, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, which will provide students with the latest application and scholarship information of prestigious foreign universities, interpret the national public scholarship policy and provide on-site consultation to help outstanding students to choose universities and programs for studying abroad.
