Jean-Yves ROUX, the newly appointed French Consul General in Wuhan, and his party visited Central South University on the morning of February 23. Chen Lizhang, Vice President of Central South University, and leaders of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges attended the meeting.
Chen Lizhang extended a warm welcome to the Consul General and his party, and thanked the French Consulate General in Wuhan for its strong support of the Central South University over the years in French cultural and educational exchanges. He introduced the history, operation status, discipline characteristics, talent training, and international strategy of Central South University, as well as the co-construction of the Confucius Institute at University of Orleans. He said CSU will continue to promote cooperation with French universities, continuously expand cooperation areas, and make new contributions to enhancing Sino-French friendship and promoting Sino-French cultural and educational exchanges. Jean-Yves ROUX said he hopes to work with Central South University to restart Sino-French educational exchanges and cooperation as soon as possible, adding that he will do his best to provide convenience for teachers and students of Central South University to visit France for exchanges and study.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged candid views, conducted in-depth exchanges on potential cooperation areas and specific issues, and reached new cooperation consensus. After the meeting, Jean-Yves ROUX and his party visited the French Department at the School of Foreign Languages and met with teachers and students of the French Department.
