Shi Jian Invited to Attend SLIE: Britain-China

Recently, the Student Leader Innovation Experiences: Britain-China 2015, directed by the China National Youth Federation, co-sponsored by China Youth Daily, China University International Exchange Association and the British Common Goal Foundation and fully supported by the UnionPay International, has come to a successful end.

Shi Jian, a graduate from Class 2013 of Osteopathic of the Third Xiangya Hospital, CSU, outshone more than a thousand applicants from 105 colleges and universities in 26 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities. During the past two months, as the only representative of Hunan Province, Shi Jian, together with 15 outstanding students from Beijing University, Tsinghua University and other well-known colleges and universities, has successively participated in the “2015 Britain-China Youth Leaders Roundtable” and “the 3rd Meeting for British High-level Cultural Exchange Mechanism” hosted by Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of the State Council and Hunter, British Minister of Health. Besides, they were received by Fu Ying, Director of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee and Luo Ting, the British Envoy, with whom they had exchanges and discussions on the construction of Sino-British multi-field cooperative relationship.

At the Britain-China Youth Leaders Roundtable, Shi Jian introduced and expounded to the participants from all walks of life the 3D printing of new medical materials and the exploitation and construction of Xiangya clinical big data, and showed his concern for the clinical care for the soul and residency training management; during his visit to Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Shi Jian also presented wonderful piano performance of the Hunan folk song Liuyang River and Piano Concerto by M. Nyman, a British contemporary composer, which won the warm applause from the delegates. At the Innovative Payment Seminar by Unionpay International Headquarters, the project team composed of six respectively from Central South University (Shi Jian as the representative), Tsinghua University, Nankai University, the University of York, UK, University of London, and University of Manchester won the Best Group Award with the innovative design of Payment for Everybody, and received an exclusive English interview by Common Purpose, UK. In addition, such two pieces of prose as reverie of the organizing committee invited the creation of two pieces of prose as Helen·Millen’s eyes and Along the Banks of Thames: between the River and the Bridge created by Shi Jian in response to the invitation of organizing committee, have successively been published in the weekly Youth Reference and well received by readers.

The current SLIE: Britain-China (Student Leader Innovation Experiences: Britain-China) aims to promote in-depth dialogue and exchanges between British and Chinese youth, foster youth in charge of foreign affairs in line with the international status of China, continue to expand the exchange between British and Chinese youth on foreign affairs, enrich the communication and interaction forms between British and Chinese college students and build the platform for British and Chinese future leadership training and exchanges. Student representatives participating in the project paid a visit, one after another, to such government offices as the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National People’s Congress, the British Embassy, the Welsh government and the National Assembly and institutions of higher learning and enterprises, including the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, Arup, Siemens, and the Unionpay International, and put forward issues Chinese youth concerned in such areas as the international relations, economic construction, cultural diversity, medical development, and cutting-edge technology.

"I hope that such exchange study can give me a chance of acquaintance and mutual learning with the British Youth, boost exchanges and cooperation between young students of the two countries, let friendship seed in British and Chinese youth’s heart take root and enable youth to make their due contribution to Sino-British relationship and world peace and development.” said Shi Jian during his interview by China Youth Daily. “I expect that the youth of two countries can bring full play their role in the course of Sino-British friendship and better grasp the golden age of Sino-British relations.”
