Recently, such three internationally renowned experts as Professor Julie Ann Freischlag, President of University of California, Davis and former Chairman of American Vascular Surgery, Professor Glenn LaMuraglia from Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University and Professor Jackie Hopei from Singapore National University Medical School have been appointed by the Second Xiangya Hospital as Visiting Professor of Vascular Surgery. Wang Zhonghao, Academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and chief scientist of Vascular Surgery Department of the Second Xiangya Hospital and Shu Chang, Director of Vascular Surgery presented letters of appointment as visiting professor to three experts.
In the hospital, Professor Julie and other foreign experts, together with Academician Wang Zhonghao and Professor Shu Chang conducted rounds in English, made discussions on such difficult cases as aortic dissection, aortic aneurysm and coarctation of the aorta, and visited the medical floor, CCU ward and hybrid operating room. In rounds, Professor Julie and Professor Glenn had a keen interest in many special cases of great vessels currently treated by Vascular Surgery Department of the Second Xiangya Hospital and conducted a heated discussion on the diagnosis and surgical strategy with present experts. They exclaimed that Vascular Surgery Department of the Second Hospital, whether in terms of ward size, the number of cases, diversity of cases or surgical volume, carrying out of innovative technology, had reached world-class standards, and even if in the United States, there were few centers level with it.
