On Dec. 9, “Study in China”—theFirst Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition for International Medical Studentshosted by China Association for International Education (CAFSA) and Tianjin Medical University was held in the gymnasium of Tianjin Medical University.

Over one hundred international undergraduates majoring in clinical medicine from 28 universities and colleges around China took part in the competition. The competition which covers clinic skills for internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics and first aid comprehensively assesses the competitors’ integrative competence in team cooperation and clinical response. Each team is composed of two male and two female students.

The team of Third Xiangya Hospital, composed of Linda from Uganda, Makhu from South Sudan, Zana from Cape Verde and Khan from Pakistan, participated in the competition on behalf of Central South University (CSU). With composure, teamwork, and resilience, they have performed all the operations in the preliminary and the final in an orderly and well-sequenced manner. The team won the Individual Excellent Award of internal medicine and surgery and the Excellent Team Award- the highest award of the competition, a full demonstration of the mien of international students of CSU.

As one of “Study in China” serial activities, the First Clinical Thinking and Skills Competition for International Medical Students is an important exchange platform to thoroughly implement the overall scheme of “constructing world-class universities and disciplines”, practically carry out the spirit ofA Number of Opinions on Doing a Good Job on the New Era of Opening up of Education, help international medical students improve clinical skills and form a good style of study and cultivate Chinese-brand qualified international medical talents, and also an innovative initiative to spread the good fame of China’s medical education worldwide.
