From September 7 to 11, Li Jingsheng, Deputy Secretary of CPC Committee of Central South University (CSU), led a delegation to France, meeting with the Permanent Delegation of China to UNESCO and visiting the University of Tours to advance the training of professionals for international organizations and practical cooperation with French universities.

At the UNESCO Headquarters, Deputy Secretary Li held talks with Hou Jian, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. and Minister-Counsellor of the Permanent Delegation of China to UNESCO, and others. The two sides held in-depth discussions on pathways for cultivating reserve talent for international organizations, channels for experts to participate in UNESCO projects, and enhancement of CSU’s influence in multilateral educational cooperation. They jointly explored feasible measures to expand CSU’s international educational space through the UNESCO platform.

At the University of Tours, the delegation held working talks with Daniel Alquier, Vice President for Research, and Stéphanie Germon, Vice President for International Relations, University of Tours. Alquier introduced the university’s research strengths in life sciences, cultural heritage and socio-ecological transition. Germon introduced the university’s international exchange and international student training, stating that the university will continue to expand the scale of Chinese student exchanges. Deputy Secretary Li reviewed the years of sound cooperation between the two universities, expressing the hope to further deepen faculty-student exchanges, joint student cultivation and research collaboration by leveraging their complementary strengths in medicine, law and the humanities, and to continuously elevate the level of cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation toured the Faculty of Law, Economics and Social Sciences and laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tours, learning in detail about relevant disciplinary development, research platform operations and experimental teaching. The delegation also met with CSU alumni in France and CSU students studying at the University of Tours, learning in detail about the alumni association’s operations and students’ overseas study and life.
