From May 25 to 31, Vice President Jiao Yong led a delegation of Central South University (CSU) to the United States, attending the 78th NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo, visiting the Chinese Embassy in the United States, and visiting the George Washington University. The visit aimed to deepen CSU’s engagement with world-class educational resources, enhance international exchange and cooperation, and expand CSU’s new paradigm of open education.
The NAFSA Annual Conference & Expo is the world’s largest and most influential professional event in the field of international education. The 78th session was held from May 26 to 29 in Orlando, Florida, the United States, attracting nearly 10,000 educators from more than 100 countries and regions. During the conference, the CSU delegation held in-depth exchanges with university administrators and international education experts and scholars from around the world, actively promoting CSU’s educational features, advantageous disciplines, internationalization achievements and external cooperation policies. The delegation reached preliminary cooperation intentions with universities including the University of California, Riverside, Vanderbilt University, the University of Ottawa, University College Dublin, Korea University and Istanbul Technical University, and attended a China-US University Meeting to further expand CSU’s international cooperation channels.
On the morning of May 29, the delegation traveled to Washington, D.C. to attend the China Higher Education Open Day held at the Chinese Embassy in the United States. The CSU booth attracted many representatives of US educational institutions and international students. Tang Zhiwen, Minister of the Chinese Embassy in the United States, and others made a special visit to the CSU booth to learn in detail about CSU’s internationalization efforts and work in education for international students in China. On the afternoon of the same day, the delegation visited the George Washington University, conducting in-depth exchanges on internationalization system development, expansion of global cooperation networks, international student training and services and development of a diverse campus culture.
