Li Zhihong Leads CSU Delegation to Universities in Spain and the UK

As part of its ongoing internationalization strategy, Central South University (CSU) organized a delegation visit to Spain and the United Kingdom from November 9 to 16, led by Vice President Li Zhihong. The group visited six universities, including the University of Santiago de Compostela, the University of Vigo, the University of A Coruña, the University of York, the University of Manchester, and the University of Liverpool.to strengthen international exchanges, expand research collaboration, and promote CSU’s talent recruitment policies to young scholars worldwide.

While in Spain, the delegation held discussions on potential areas of cooperation with partner universities in priority disciplines such as health and life sciences, mining, biotechnology, and civil engineering, as well as initiatives for Spanish-language talent development. A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed with the University of Vigo.and the itinerary included visits to the Galician Innovation Agency, Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital, and the Galicia Sur Health Research Institute.

In the United Kingdom, the delegation engaged in talks with multiple universities on student exchange schemes and the development of key academic disciplines, with a particular focus on interdisciplinary collaboration between medicine and engineering. An MOU was signed with the University of York.During the visit to the University of Manchester, the delegation met with Meng Qingjun, Associate Dean for Internationalisation (Research & Innovation) in the Faculty of Biology, Medicine and Health, and Professor Holly Hills.followed by attendance at an Overseas Young Scholars Exchange Forum, where Vice President Li Zhihong presented CSU’s talent policies and recruitment programmes.

Officials and staff from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, Dundee International Institute, and Xiangya School of Basic Medical Sciences accompanied the delegation.
