On the afternoon of November 9, a delegation from the government of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) visited CSU. Accompanying the delegation were Zhou Tiesheng, Chairman of Zhongshi Wosen, and Chen Mo, General Manager of Zhongshi Wosen. CSU Vice President Li Zhihong met with the delegation, along with relevant heads of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of Automation, and the School of International Education.
Li introduced the basic information about CSU to the delegation. He noted that CSU’s mining-related disciplines have consistently engaged in scientific research cooperation with the DRC’s mining companies and achieved joint technological breakthroughs, which has established a strong partnership between the two sides. He mentioned that a total of over 20 international students from the DRC are currently studying at CSU, expressing hope that both sides can enhance exchanges and promote comprehensive cooperation.
Tshinguli Kanama Élie, Deputy Director General of the Agency for the Steering, Coordination and Monitoring of Cooperation Agreements between the DRC and its Private Partners (APCSC), stated that CSU possesses strong academic strengths, while the DRC, as a developing country, requires advancement in various areas. He emphasized the urgent need of the country for experts in mining, transportation, civil engineering, and health care. The Deputy Director General was optimistic about the potential for cooperation between the two sides in scientific research, technological development, and talent cultivation, anticipating significant exchanges and enhanced collaboration. He also noted that these efforts will contribute to the socioeconomic development of the DRC.
Zhou Tiesheng emphasized that, as a Chinese company settling in the DRC, Zhongshi Wosen will actively serve as a bridge to promote comprehensive cooperation between CSU and the government, businesses, and educational institutions of the DRC.
After the meeting, the delegation visited a key laboratory for the smart manufacturing of non-ferrous metals, which operates under the supervision of China’s Ministry of Education.
