The 6th Kunming Forum on Education Cooperation in South and Southeast Asia opened on December 15 in Yunnan, with the theme of “Working together for Common Development”. A number of sub-forums and dialogues were also organized. A total of about 200 people participated in the Forum, including Vice Minister of Education Chen Jie, as well as leaders of education administrations, university presidents, experts and scholars, foreign ambassadors to China from 14 countries in South and Southeast Asia, and representatives of high-level domestic colleges and universities.

As a member university of the South & Southeast Asian University Network (S&SE Asian UN), Central South University (CSU) has actively established an interconnected multilateral education cooperation mechanism to contribute to the construction of a regional higher education community and the development of the Belt and Road Initiative. At the “President's Forum”, Li Zhihong, Vice President of CSU, made a keynote speech entitled “Opportunities and Paths for Cooperation between Chinese and South & Southeast Asian Universities under the New Situation”. He introduced the cooperation between CSU and South & Southeast Asian universities in the fields of faculty and student exchanges, talent cultivation and scientific research, and expressed that CSU is willing to work with Chinese universities to further improve the internal momentum of cooperation, explore the establishment of more in-depth educational exchanges and cooperation with South & Southeast Asian universities, and achieve a higher level of multi-dimensional and collaborative development.

S&SE Asian UN was established in December 2018 based on a regional international cooperation mechanism for higher education, with 118 member universities from countries including China, Singapore, Thailand and Indonesia.
