Recommended by academicians of the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE), and through the processes of formal review, material review, review meeting and voting at the general assembly by all academicians, Professor Liu Jianxin from School of Geosciences and Info-physics of Central South University (CSU) was elected as a foreign academician of the Russian Academy of Engineering (RAE) at the general assembly.
Liu Jianxin is a second-level professor, doctoral supervisor and state-level candidate of the "National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talents Project of the New Century". He is currently Director of the Professor Committee of CSU School of Geosciences and Info-physics, Director of the Hunan Provincial Key Laboratory of Non-ferrous Resources and Geological Hazards Detection, leader of the Hunan Provincial University Innovation Team for Resources and Hazards Detection, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Geophysical Society, and Chairman of CSU Intellectuals Friendship Association. He was formerly Dean of CSU School of Info-physics Engineering, Vice Dean of the School of Geosciences and Info-physics, Chairman of the Hunan Geophysical Society, and member and Standing Committee member of the 9th to 12th CPPCC Hunan Provincial Committee. He has been awarded 1 second prize of State Technology Invention Awards, 1 second prize and 1 third prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 7 first prizes and 5 second prizes of provincial-level Science and Technology Progress Award, as well as a number of national and provincial-level honors such as the first Excellent Graduate Student Supervisor Award in Hunan Province, the first Excellent Scientific and Technological Worker Award in Hunan Province, the sixth China Youth Geological Science and Technology Award, and the first Most Beautiful Scientific and Technological Worker Award by the Chinese Geophysical Society.
RAE, formerly known as the Soviet Academy of Engineering, was officially established on May 13, 1990. It is a scientific institution with significant international academic influence and a national public organization in Russia. It obtained consultative status to the United Nations Industrial Development Organization in 1993 and was listed as one of the new technology expert organizations in Central and Eastern European by UNESCO in 1997. RAE currently has more than 1,500 academicians, including more than 100 foreign academicians.
