CSU Delegation Visits Bahamas
December 22, 2023Click:

In order to effectively promote exchanges and cooperation between Hunan Province and the Bahamas in the field of medical and healthcare, at the invitation of the Bahamas Ministry of Health, Central South University (CSU) sent a delegation to the Bahamas from November 29 to December 5 to conduct on-site inspections and research on the country's medical and healthcare situation, to prepare for the subsequent implementation of the “Brightness Action” China medical aid program.

During their stay in the Bahamas, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in the Bahamas and had a meeting with the Bahamas Minister of Health and relevant leaders of the Bahamas Department of Public Health. They discussed the preliminary implementation plan of the “Brightness Action” program and clarified the division of tasks between China and the Bahamas. The delegation conducted an on-site inspection of the Princess Margaret Hospital in the Bahamas where the “Brightness Action” program is based, and proposed the list of personnel, funds and materials required for the program.

In 2016 and 2018, CSU sent medical experts a number of times to Sierra Leone to support the “Brightness Action” program there and carried out “sight-restoring” cataract surgeries, which effectively consolidated the foundation of the public health cooperation between China and Sierra Leon and contributed to the new chapter in China-Sierra Leone friendship.
