From May 8 to 15, Yi Hong, Secretary of CPC Committee of Central South University (CSU), led a delegation to South Korea and Japan. They visited Yonsei University, Kagoshima University, Kyoto University, Tohoku University, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka, companies run by CSU alumni in South Korea, and CSU alumni in Japan, to facilitate substantial cooperation and exchanges between faculty and students, and high-level international colleges, universities, and research institutes.
Yi Hong leads a delegation on visit to Yonsei University, Kagoshima University, Kyoto University, and Tohoku University
During the visit to Yonsei University, Yi Hong signed a Memorandum of Understanding Between CSU and Yonsei University with Yoon Dong-Sup, President of Yonsei University. They explored the possibility of cooperation in domains such as medicine and engineering, and decided to actively carry out joint scientific research and postgraduate exchanges on medicine at first.
At Kagoshima University, Yi Hong met with SANO Akira, President of Kagoshima University. Both of them agreed to carry out more substantial cooperation based on the previous fruitful one, by facilitating more postgraduate students to perform experiments, engaging in faculty exchange programs and other means.
At the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Osaka, Yi Hong and Consul-General Xue Jian probed into topics such as talent introduction, study in China initiative, and structural optimization of international students. They concurred on that the two sides will contribute more to China’s strategic choice of high-standard opening up by enhancing international cooperation and cultural exchanges in education, and science and technology.
At Kyoto University, Yi Hong and Masahiro Ohshima, Vice President of Kyoto University, engaged in a deep conversation on education, scientific research, talent cultivation, characteristics of disciplines, and international engagement. Initial agreement was reached on engineering student exchanges.
At Tohoku University, Yi Hong and the delegation exchanged ideas with Tetsuya Nagasaka, Vice President of Tohoku University, and visited the School of Engineering and the Graduate School of Environmental Studies. The both sides made clear that, at the school level, they will vigorously facilitate the exchanges of young faculty and researchers of corresponding disciplines, and promote the signing of inter-university cooperation agreements based on more substantial cooperation.

During the visit, the delegation led by Yi Hong also went to Ronbay Technology, a group run by CSU alumni, and exchanged on its recruitment and cooperation model. When exchanging with CSU alumni, Yi Hong introduced the development of CSU in the past years, and extended warm wishes to the alumni association to be established in Japan, hoping that it could fully play its role as a bond. He hoped that the alumni association can become a high-quality platform for alumni to support the development of CSU and vice versa, and for alumni to support each other’s growth.
Leaders and faculty of the Graduate School, the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the School of International Education, and Xiangya School of Public Health, accompanied the delegation on this visit.
