On the afternoon of December 20, 2019,Felix Aracena, President ofHouse of China, Dominican Republic, and his delegation visited Central South University (CSU). Bai Yi, Head of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, met with the guests on behalf of CSU. The two parties held talks on the culture and education of Dominica and the exchange and cooperation with CSU. Relevant staff from the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People's Government of Hunan Province attended the talks.
Bai Yi briefly introduced the history and scale, subject characteristics, talent cultivation and other aspects of our university. According to Bai Yi, CSU will actively implement the national diplomatic strategy, and promote cooperation with Dominican Republic in the field of higher education. It is planned to visit Dominica in 2020, and 3-5 scholarships for international students will be provided to help and support the talent cultivation in Dominica. He also said that Dominica is a beautiful island country, and he hoped this visit would lay a solid foundation for future cooperation.
Felix Aracena appreciated CSU for the warm reception. He praised CSU for distinguished features in medicine and rail traffic etc., and said that Dominica would like to cooperate with CSU in these fields. As a non-governmental China-friendly organization of Dominica, House of China is willing to provide all conveniences for the exchange and cooperation between CSU and Dominica in the field of higher education to promote friendship between the two parties.
Philippe Rossa, the Executive Secretary of House of China, has invited CSU to attend the University Presidents Forum for Latin America to be held in Panama next February.
