On the afternoon of Nov. 23, a group of four members led by Mr. Pornpop Uampidhaya, Consul-General of Royal Thai Consulate General in Kunming, visited Central South University (hereinafter referred to as CSU) and were received by Chen Chunyang, Vice President of CSU, et al in the Railway Campus.
After visiting the Railway Park, Consul-General and his group attended a symposium in the 3D conference room of the High-speed Train Center.During the symposium, Vice President Chen Chunyang introduced on the CSU delegation’s visit to Thailand in the middle of the month as well as series of achievements, and expressed the wish to further deepen the friendship between the two countries and cultivate more talents in the field of rail traffic for Thailand through cooperation in running schools.
Mr. Pornpop Uampidhaya was glad for the upcoming cooperation between CSU and Thai universities. He emphasized that the China-Thailand Railway Cooperation Project initiated currently is of great importance, that this railway, when completed, will not only connect China and Thailand, but become a bridge linking China with the Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, China-Thailand Railway also connects the development of the two countries. He said that China and Thailand have a large cooperation space in the future and their cooperation will focus not only on railway construction, but talent cultivation and technology transfer; that Thailand wishes to take the opportunity of China-Thailand Railway construction to let Thai universities and vocational schools learn from China’s experience in scientific research and talent cultivation for the railway sector, and that CSU, with strong technical force and high scientific research level, is exactly one of the most suitable cooperative partners.He wished to enhance the understanding of CSU and discuss with CSU the cooperation in talent cultivation, and believed that more Thai students would come to study in CSU.
He Xuhui, a leader of the Preparatory Working Group of International Railway Institute, gave an introduction to the teacher resources, preponderantdisciplines, scientific research platforms and achievements and international cooperative projects of CSU.At the end of the symposium, the two sides gave each other presents and took group photos.
After the symposium, Consul-General and his group were also shown around the Key Laboratory of Traffic Safety on Track, Ministry ofEducationand the National Engineering Laboratory for Construction Technology of High Speed Railway. The laboratory directors made a detailed introduction to the scientific research and talent cultivation in the laboratories.The Consul-General expressed admiration for advanced scientific and technical achievements and key technologies developed in the laboratories of CSU.
The principals of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges, the Railway Campus Management Committee, the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering participated in related activities.
