Prof. Hao Wei, a famous doctor of Chinese National Clinical Research Center on Mental Disorders (the Second Xiangya Hospital) was graciously received by Erdogan, President of Turkey, during his attendance at the 4^thWHO Conference on Addictive Behaviors and Public Health and the 4^thInternational Conference on Behavioral Addiction from Nov. 27 to Dec. 1 in Istanbul, Turkey. Erdogan said that China and Turkey are friends and expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation and jointly bring benefits to Chinese and Turkish people.Before the conference, stamps exclusively for Prof. Hao Wei were issued locally.

At the 4^thInternational Conference on Behavioral Addiction held from Nov. 27 to 28, Chinese experiences introduced by Prof. Hao Wei in his report attracted great attention. At the 4^thWHO Conference on Addictive Behaviors and Public Health held from Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, Prof. Hao Wei, as WHO officer and first vice president of International Narcotics Control Board (hereinafter referred to as INCB), organized experts from around the world to make an in-depth discussion on related topics. After the conference, Prof. Hao Wei also accepted interviews with local media.Owing to China’s positive contribution to relevant fields, the 5^thWHO Conference on Addictive Behaviors and Public Health, Prof. Hao Wei to be the organizer, will be held in China.

As one of the candidates recommended by WHO, Prof. Hao Weiwas elected to be member of INCB in 2015, vice president of the Evaluation Committee of INCB in 2016 and first vice president of INCB in 2017. Prof. Hao Wei is currently president of the Chinese Association of Drug Abuse Prevention and Treatment (a national first-class association) in the fields of pathergasiology and addiction medicine, member of WHO Expert Panel of Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Director of WHO Collaborating Center for Addictive Behaviors and Health and member of International Mental Disorder Classification and Diagnostics Guide Work Group, and ever served as president of the Psychiatrist Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. ThePsychiatry(Versions 4 – 7) edited by him is the most influential textbook in the field of psychiatry. Prof. Hao Wei’s team has undertaken 12 international projects and 6 national projects over the past five years. He has published more than 300 papers (including over 60 SCI papers) as first author or corresponding author and 25 books as editor or coeditor, which have exerted important influence both at home and abroad in studies on national epidemiology, abstinence herbs, rehabilitation after detoxification and biomechanism of addiction.In Jun. 2015, he was courteously received as an advanced individual of national drug control by Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang and other CPC and state leaders at the Golden Hall of the Great Hall of the People.
