On Apr. 12, Lisa Stabler, President of Transportation Technology Center Inc. (TTCI), Firdausi Irani, Vice President of TTCI, and Jian Sun, Director of Commerce Department of TTCI, paid an exchange visit to CSU. Zhang Yaoxue, President of CSU, Zhou Kechao, Vice President of CSU and principals of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Management Committee of Railway Campus, School of Traffic and Transportation and School of Civil Engineering met with the guests in the Meeting Room I of Office Building I.
Mr. Zhang introduced CSU briefly and presented the contribution of its rail traffic discipline to China’s railway development, especially the internationally advanced dynamic simulation experiment system for train aerodynamics performance and the impact resistance and safety performance test for metro vehicles exported from CRRC to the US that had been completed recently. Lisa expected to know better about CSU and learn from CSU's experience in scientific research and talent training in the field of rail traffic.
Later, Tian Hongqi from CSU, an academician of CAE, had a symposium with the delegation in the 3D Academic Exchange Center of the Key Laboratory for Rail Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Education of China. The Key Laboratory for Rail Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Education of China and the National Engineering Laboratory for Construction Technology of High Speed Railway are engaged in developing serial key technologies and improving the quality and efficiency of design, construction, operation and maintenance of vehicles and railways. Tian hoped that both sides could establish closer cooperation in technology, scientific research and talent cultivation. Lisa said TTCI had cooperation with many countries such as Japan and Canada and hoped to learn technologies from other countries including China so as to solve practical problems and provide support for enterprise development.
The delegation were also shown around the Key Laboratory for Rail Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Education of China and the National Engineering Laboratory for Construction Technology of High Speed Railway.
It is learnt that TTCI as a comprehensive railway research and test center provides huge intellectual and technical support for the railway development in the US through technology innovation services in increasing the speed, length, mass and axle weight of trains, improving infrastructure and technical conditions of locomotives, etc. Tian ever led a delegation to visit TTCI in Jan. 2012 and had a meeting at which they signed an agreement on the scientific research cooperation between the Key Laboratory for Rail Traffic Safety of the Ministry of Education of China and TTCI. Now, both sides are turning to deep cooperation in international cooperation projects, laboratory construction and other aspects.
