At 5 o’clock on the afternoon of Sep. 7, 2017 (EST),University of Pittsburgh holds a welcoming banquet for the sixth group of eight-year program medical students of 2011 fromXiangya School of Medicine.
Before the banquet, Prof. Timothy Billiar, a Fellow of the National Academy of Science and Chairman of the Department of Surgery of University of Pittsburgh made a welcome speech.
“I’d like to extend a warm welcome to all students from Xiangya. Over the past 6 years of cooperation between UPMC with Xiangya, all Xiangya students have delivered a great performance and won high praise from their tutors. I wish you all the best in the following two years of study and life.”
Prof. Jie Fan from Department of Surgery briefs the course of “Method and Logics of Biomedicine” (MLB) which is specially set up for Xiangya students and aims to cultivate scientific thinking and literacy and the ability to make presentation in a logic and artistic way. Prof. Margaret McDonald, Associate Vice President of University of Pittsburgh, makes arrangement of scientific research training and clinical learning for the new students.Zhang Liming, a former Chairman of Xiangya Overseas Alumni Association and professor of the Department of Anesthesia of University of Pittsburgh, says to Xiangya students
“I hope you cherish this opportunity, study hard, take care of yourselves and learn team work, and Xiangya overseas alumni will try their best to support and help you.”
