On the evening of December 27, the 2019 New Year’s Concert of CSU was held at the theater of Meixi Lake International Culture & Art Center. CSU leaders, including Yi Hong, Tao Lijian, Jiang Jianxiang and Zhu Xuehong, joined over 1,000 faculty and students in enjoying this music feast to celebrate the new year.

This concert was conducted by Mr. Yu Hai, chairman of China Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles and a director of Chinese Musicians Association, and Mr. Xiao Ming, a national first-class conductor and head of Changsha Symphony Orchestra. Mr. Yu Hai served as the head of the Central Military Band of People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China and chief conductor of the PLA Military Band in the 50thand 60thNational Day anniversary celebration. As a member of the national committee of CPPCC, he proposed the establishment of a national anthem law for ten consecutive years, and was applauded by the media as the conductor expediting the establishment of national anthem law and the musician promoting the establishment of national anthem law.

The concert began with the cheerful Tritsch Tratsch Polka. The combination of the lively song and light music created a joyful atmosphere of new year for the audience. Then, everyone was enchanted by the distant artistic conception and the delicate and everlasting affection in the calm and soft melody of How Can I Rid My Mind of Her. The sonorous and heartshaking Sky Road by Wang Bao, a CSU graduate, conveyed the Tibetan people’s sincere feeling of realizing their dreams through its simple lyrics. The Tchaikovsky: Piano Concerto No.1 by Daria Dashutina, a Ukrainian pianist, which was at times as sweet as a happy dream, and at times as magnificent as a waterfall, gained rounds of applause from the audience. In this theater where the music lingered in the air, the audience was intoxicated with the fantastic riverside landscape as they enjoyed Prelude Carmen and Blue Danube. This concert culminated in the solo I Love You China by Huang Huali, a soprano from the troupe of the Political Work Department of the Central Military Commission, and the symphonic chorus Liuyang River.

This concert is one of CSU’s initiatives to stay committed to the development of cultural quality education. By building the cultural quality education center and carrying out such aesthetic education activities as Elegant CSU and Exemplary CSU, the university, as a national cultural quality education base, has been following the spirit of developing moral, intellectual, physical, aesthetics and labor education in an all-round manner proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, in an effort to build a broad space for students to tap into their potentials and develop themselves.
