Another Two CSU Professors Selected as Fellows of American Academy of Nursing

On August 6, American Academy of Nursing announced 2020 Class of Fellows which includes Professor Li Xianhong and Professor Li Yinglan with Xiangya Nursing School, CSU. They have been another two Fellows of American Academy of Nursing of CSU after Wang Honghong were elected in 2019.

As announced, there are totally 13 nursing experts from the Chinese Mainland in the 2020 Class of Fellows. The American Academy of Nursing will hold its annual “Transforming Health Driving Policy” Conference in October 2020 to honor new fellows for their significant contributions to global health and healthcare. Professor Eileen Sullivan-Marx, President of the American Academy of Nursing, congratulated the 230 new nursing leaders. He held that their work is interdisciplinary and exemplifies the power of nursing knowledge in making meaningful changes. He noted that now, more than ever, new members' participation and collaboration is more important.

First established in 1973, the American Academy of Nursing acts as a policy organization striving to improve health and achieve health equity through nursing leadership, innovation, and science. Through a competitive, rigorous application process, a committee of elected Fellows review hundreds of applications and select new Fellows based on their contributions to advance the public’s health. The Academy is currently comprised of more than 2,700 fellows who are experts in policy, research, administration, practice, and academia that champion global health and wellness.

Professor Li Xianhong, who is a medicine doctor and post doctor in health law, serves as Deputy Dean of Xiangya Nursing School of Central South University, Deputy Director of Hunan Research Center for Women and Children's Health and Development, and a member of the Scientific Research Committee of Chinese Nursing Association. She has been honored as a “Young Backbone Teacher” of Hunan Province. Main research direction: health promotion for vulnerable groups. Professor Li Xianhong has studied in Yale University and the University of California, Los Angeles for a total of more than two years through three successive academic visits; she has presided over 10-plus projects funded by American National Institutes of Health or at national, provincial, and university levels; she has cumulatively published over 70 scientific research papers, acted as chief editor or coeditor of 13 textbooks, and won 5 provincial and ministerial awards.

Professor Li Xianhong

Li Yinglan, a chief nurse and doctoral supervisor, serves as Deputy Dean of Xiangya Nursing School of Central South University. She is among the ninth batch of cadres dispatched by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee to aid Xinjiang. She also acts as Vice Chairman of Chinese Nursing Association, a member of the Nursing Standards Committee of the National Committee for Health Standards, Vice Chairman of the Nursing Branch of Asia Society for Emergency and Critical Care Medicine, and an editorial board member regarding such periodicals asChinese Journal of NursingandChinese Nursing Management. Main research directions: social medicine and health management, patient safety management, etc. She has served as chief editor or co-editor of 34 books including “13thFive-Year Plan” textbooks for national colleges and universities, and national quality curriculum materials as well as monographs; she has published more than 160 papers, presided over 18 projects at provincial, ministerial and above levels, and won such honors as the “National Outstanding Scientific and Technological Worker” and the “National Excellent Nursing Worker”.
