On the afternoon of December 4, 2019 (North American time), a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was officially signed between the Psychiatric Department of Xiangya School of Medicine, CSU and the Psychiatric Department ofYale School of Medicine. ProfessorRobert Rohrbaugh, Head of the Medical Education Department, and ProfessorJohn Krystal, Head of the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine signed and exchanged the MOU on cooperation in the field of medical education and research with Professor Li Zhihong, Vice President of Xiangya School of Medicine, CSU and Professor Wang Xiaoping, Head of the Psychiatric Department of the Second Xiangya Hospital. This is the first time for the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine to officially sign a MOU on international cooperation.

Professor Wang Xiaoping and Professor John Krystal signed the foundational MOU on behalf of the Psychiatric Department of Xiangya School of Medicine, CSU and the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine, respectively, which established a long-term mechanism for the comprehensive and in-depth cooperation in the future. There will be more intensive and extensive cooperation between the two sides in medical education, clinical services, scientific research and vocational training etc. The MOU was signed in the presence of Dr. Donald. L. Filer, Executive Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yale University, David Youtz, President of Yale-China Association, Ms. Junya Zhu, Health Project Director and Ms. Jessica Hahne, Senior Health Project Officer.

The delegation consisted of Professor Li Zhihong, Vice President of Xiangya School of Medicine, CSU, Professor Xiang Daxiong, Head of the Pharmaceutical Department of Second Xiangya Hospital, Professor Wang Xiaoping, Head of the Psychiatric Department, Deputy Head Professor Liu Zhening, Professor Wu Renrong and Dr. Liu Bangshan of the Psychiatric Department. During the three-day visit to the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine, Professor John Krystal, Head of the Department, and Professor Robert Rohrbaugh, made a comprehensive introduction to the history, organizational structure, scientific research, clinical services and medical education of the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine. The delegation had 20 intensive one-on-one meetings with key researchers in clinical services, research, community services, medical education and other areas of the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine, as well as with the leaders of the Psychiatric Department of Yale School of Medicine and Connecticut Mental Health Center.
