Tian Hongqi

Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering

 

Tian Hongqi, female, was born in Lushan, Henan Province in 1959. She is a professor at CSU and an expert in rail transport aerodynamics and train collision dynamics.

She began to work in January, 1982. She majored in aerodynamics in China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center, and successfully graduated with a doctor’s degree. She is the doctor of engineering, professor, supervisor for PHD students as well as the incumbent vice president of Central South University.

From March 1978 to December 1981, she studied in Department of Mechanical Engineering of Changsha Railway University, majoring in railway vehicles; From September 1985 to December 1988, she pursued master’s degree in Locomotive and Rolling Stock at Department of Locomotive and Rolling Stock of Changsha Railway Institute. From September 1996 to December 1999, she pursued Ph.D in aerodynamic at China Aerodynamics Research and Development Center. In January 1982, she began to teach at Department of Locomotive and Rolling Stock of Changsha Railway Institute, and was promoted to lecturer in December 1986, associate professor in May 1993 and professor in July 1999. In April 2002, she was elected as the vice dean of School of Transportation Engineering, Central South University, the director of  Rail Transport Safety, a key laboratory designated by Ministry of Education in October 2003. She was appointed the Distinguished Professor of Yangtze River Scholar in 2006, the president assistant of CSU in September 2008, the vice president of CSU in April 2010. In 2015, she became a member of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

She won twice for 2nd prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award, 2nd prize of National Technology and Invention Award, the special prize of National Science and Technology Progress Award. She is also the winner of the first prize of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technology Progress Award for seven times. She was awarded the National Outstanding Worker of Science and Technology, Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of Zhan Tianyou Railway Science and Technology Progress Award for Youths and Achievements, Guanghua Project Science and Technology Award as well as Guangzhao Science and Technology Award, Hunan Province, etc. Her team has promoted Transportation Engineering as the first-level discipline and the national key discipline, becoming the innovation team designated by Yangtse River Scholar under Ministry of Education, and rated the first National Advanced Collective of Professionals.
