Tian Hongqi, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
Tian Hongqi, female, was born in Lushan of Henan Province in 1959. She serves as President of the Central South University (CSU). She is an expert in rail transport aerodynamics and train collision dynamics, a professor of Yangtze River Scholar of Ministry of Education, a member of the 11th and 12th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the Chairman of Hunan Committee of the Revolutionary Committee of the Chinese Kuomintang.
She has established the basic research and engineering application system of high-speed rail aerodynamics, multi-vehicle coupled impact dynamics and high wind environment driving safety technology; she has presided over the aerodynamic performance research and shape design of the streamlined train in China, the body design of the first impact-resistant energy-absorbing train in China, the strong wind monitoring and warning and traffic control system of Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the dynamic model experimental system for the aerodynamic characteristics of the first train in China and the only crash test system of the railway vehicle in domestic.
She has been awarded with 2 Grand Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Awards, 2 Second Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 1 Second Prize of the National Technology and Invention Award. Moreover, she has also obtained the Science & Technology Progress Award of He-Liang-He-Li Fund, the Guanghua Project Science and Technology Award, the National Outstanding Worker of Science and Technology, Outstanding Contribution Individual of the National Western Development, Zhan Tianyou Railway Science & Technology Achievement, Guangzhao Science and Technology Award of Hunan Province, and the first Hunan Outstanding Expert, etc. Under her leadership, her team has promoted the Transportation Engineering to be a first-level discipline and a national key discipline. Her team is designated as an innovation team by Yangtse River Scholar under Ministry of Education, and has won the National Advanced Collective of Professionals of the first session.
