Li Xibing

Assistant to President

Li Xibing, male, was born in October 1962. He is a member of Chinese Peasants and Workers Democratic Party, master, doctor and professor. He served as the Dean of the School of Resources and Safety Engineering and the Director of the Scientific Research Department of Central South University, and now serves as the Assistant to the President of Central South University.

Major research areas: Mining and rock dynamics. He proposed such original concepts as high stress rock induced cracking and dynamic-static combined loading of rocks.

He received such titles as the distinguished professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program of the Ministry of Education (2000), recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars (1996), the first batch of leading talents of science and technology of Hunan Province, China Youth Science and Technology Award (1996), Excellent Expert of Hunan Province (2006), top 10 national excellent science and technology workers nomination award (2012) and Guangzhao Science and Technology Award of Hunan Province (2016). He has undertaken multiple national, provincial and ministerial-level research projects, and obtained multiple items of second prize of the State Science and Technology Advancement Award, first prize of the natural science award of Hunan Province and first prize of the technology invention award of Hunan Province with the first ranking. He has published 8 academic works and more than 460 SCI papers.

He was elected as member of the Standing Committee of the 12th People’s Congress of Hunan Province.

He assists in the management of academic degree and graduate education.
