The Fourth CSU “Words of Wisdom·Letters for CSU” Chinese Character Culture Knowledge Competition of Foreign Students Successfully Held

On the evening of Dec. 15, the fourth CSU “Words of Truth” Character Culture Knowledge Competition of Foreign Studentssponsored by the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange and organized by the College of Literature and Journalism was successfully held in the multi-function lecture hall (222) of Literature and Law Building. Liu Huixiu, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Deputy Secretary of the College of Literature and Journalism, and Xiang Xueyong of the International Students’ Affairs Office attended the activity. Li Xinghui, Zhou Qiuliang and Ji Hailong of the College of Literature and Journalism served as judges of the competition. Eight delegations composed of over 200 foreign students from various faculties participated in the competition.

This competition was divided into four sections, i.e. dictation of Chinese characters and words, examination of Chinese traditional cultural know-how, recital contest and talk show. Students from Vietnam, Mongolia, Yemen, Pakistan, Turkmenistan and other foreign countries recited classic Chinese poem such asFacing the Sea • with Spring Blossoms,Cooing and Wooing,A Wild FlowerandThe Last Daysand performed talk shows themed dream, happiness and thanksgiving. During competition, wonderful performance of the contestants won warm applause of the audience and full affirmation of the judges, andpushed the atmosphere to a climax.

Through four rounds of fierce contest, the Aestheticism Team got the best score, followed by Innovation Team and Kindness Team, and Tolerance Team, Beyond Team and Dream Team won the third prize.

After the competition, Liu Huixiu praised thewell-organized schedule of and students’ active participation in the competition. He said, “Foreign students are friendship envoy to strength the cultural exchange between China and other countries in the world. I hope all foreign students studying in CSU could actively participate in similar activities and make more efforts to learn Chinese culture.”
