Yi Hong, male, Han nationality, was born in Apr. 1963 in Wanzhou District, Chongqing. He is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Mechanical Engineering and an honorary doctor atUniversity of Rennes 1 (French) andMonash University (Australia).

Prof. Yi Hong has engaged in the research on advanced manufacturing technology and his main research interests include CAD, CAPP, CAM and their integration technology, CIMS engineering application, agile and networked manufacturing, quality assurance technology and micro-nano medical apparatus and instrument design and manufacturing.

He has directed and completed nearly 40 scientific research projects covering national, provincial and ministerial-level such as National 973 Project, Natural Science Foundation of China, National Hi-tech R&D Program of 863 Program, national 863/CIMS demonstration projects, Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province and CAD applied demonstration projects of Jiangsu Province.

Prof. Yi Hong has published nearly 200 academic papers and won 6 provincial and ministerial-level awards for scientific and technological advancement and 1 national-level teaching achievement award (second prize). In 1999, he was listed in “Top 10 Stars of Science and Technology” of Nanjing; in 2001, he was awarded the title of “Outstanding Member of the Communist Party” by Jiangsu Provincial CPC Committee and “Jiangsu Youth Medal” by the Government of Jiangsu Province. He has obtained the Special Governmental Allowance of the State Council, and was elected as national candidate of the New Century Talents Project. Currently, Prof. Yi Hong holds the position of Chairman of Steering Committee of the Experimental Teaching of Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education.
