Tao Zhou is Professor of Chemical Engineering at Central South University, and received B.S. degrees from Chengdu University of Science and Technology and a Ph.D. from Institute of Chemical Metallurgy, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Before joining the faculty at Central South University, he visited Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan as a JSPS research Fellow from 1999 to 2001, and Hokkaido University in Japan from 2001 to 2002, then, New Jersey Institute of Technology in USA from 2002 to 2003. He authored or coauthored 120 technical articles, 7 patents, and two books. He is a trustee of Chinese Society of Particuology from 2005 and an expert at NSFC, Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Education. His research fields include multi-phase flow and fluidization, comprehensive utilization technology of secondary sources, modification of powders (coating), and preparation of chemical intermediate.
In recent years, he used charge of 4 national model projects approved and supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project supported by Doctoral Fund of Ministry of Education, one project of China-Japan NSFC-JSPS cooperation project and some project supported by companies.
He received the first award of natural science and technological invents from Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1999, the first award of China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Association in 2012, and BYD Outstanding Teacher Award of Central South University in 2013.
