Successful Agreement Signing for Central South University – University of Orleans Confucius Institute

The 13th Confucius Institute Conference was held in Chengdu from December 4 to 5, which attracted more than 1,500 representatives from 154 countries and regions. The Conference took “Boosting Development through Reform and Innovation, Creating Future with Joint Efforts” as its theme. Sun Chunlan, Vice Premier and Chair of the Council of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, and Chen Baosheng, Minister of Education, attended the Opening Ceremony.

The Signing Ceremony of 10 new Confucius Institutes were held on the sidelines of the conference. Tian Xuejun, Vice Minister of Education, and Tian Hongqi, President of Central South University, attended and witnessed the signing of the agreement on co-construction of Central South University – University of Orleans Confucius Institute between Ma Jianfei, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Vice Chairman of the International Society for Chinese Language Teaching, and Ary Bruand, President of University of Orleans.

Tian Xuejun expressed his wish that, adhering to the principles of “mutual respect, friendly negotiations, and common benefit”, both parties could intensify the strength of support, solidify the cooperative foundation, continuously improve the quality and level of Confucius Institute and make a due contribution to promoting the cultural and educational exchanges between China and foreign countries, the friendship between Chinese and foreign people and the establishment of a community of shared future for mankind.

Located in the city of Orleans, the capital of the Loiret department and of the Centre-Val de Loire region, University of Orleans is an internationally renowned institution of higher education founded in 1306 by Pope Clement V. It consists of Economic Law, Management Science, Biology, Historical Geography, Language, Literature, Foreign Languages, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Computer, Geology and other faculties. Currently, there are more than 17,000 students. The Confucius Institute at University of Orleans is the second Confucius Institute built by CSU.
