Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam Meets with the Delegation of Central South University

On the afternoon of Nov. 14, Thai Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam met with the delegation of Central South University led by the Vice President Chen Chunyang.Mr. Zhan Jinbo, Member of National Legislative Assembly of Thailand, and Mr. Zheng Yingwen, ViceChairman of Thai-Chinese Cultural Promotion Council, also attended the meeting.

Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu showed welcome to the delegation and expressed congratulations on the signing of the MoU for the Cooperative Project for Cultivation of High Speed Rail Talents. He said Thailand attaches great importance to the construction and development of Thai-Chinese railway cooperation projects and extended thanks to Central South University for its contribution to the development of rail traffic, especially for its efforts in cultivation of talents for the high-speed rail industry.Thai government supports the cooperation between Central South University and Thai universities in high-speed rail and wishes to develop cooperation in medical treatment, medicine and other fields in the lead.

Chen Chunyang made a report to Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu on the development features of Central South University and the progress of the signing of the MoU for the Cooperative Project for Cultivation of High Speed Rail Talents with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok.He said, in response to the “BeltandRoad” initiative of China and in order to jointly cultivate local talents for the construction and operation of railways required in Thailand and other Southeast Asia regions, Central South University will establish a long-term cooperative education relationship with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and develop cooperation in talent cultivation, scientific innovation and cultural exchange.

During the visit, Anon, Director General of State Railway of Thailand, also met with the delegation, had a deep discussion on the technical cooperation and talent cultivation for the high-speed rail industry, and expressed his support for the cooperation between King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok and Central South University. Besides, the delegation made a cooperative exchange with Chiang Mai University and Chulalongkorn University in succession and visited their laboratories.The delegation also communicated with King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok on the next step of cooperation. According to the MoU and their consultation, Central South University and King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok will set up a joint working group to promote cooperation and realize joint admissions in 2018.

This visit to Thailand has received strong support from Phnij Jarusombu, Chairman of Thai-Chinese Cultural Promotion Council and been highly concerned and widely reported by Thai and Chinese media.

Zheng Yingwen, Vice Chairman of Thai-Chinese Cultural Promotion Council, accompanied the delegation throughout the whole journey on behalf of Phnij Jarusombu. Members of the delegation include Chen Chunyang (Vice President of Central South University), Zhou Helin (Secretary General of the School Board), Gao Dongbo (Vice Director of Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges), Cao Yaoqian (Director of General Affairs Office of Railway Campus) and Chen Xiaobin (Associate Professor of School of Civil Engineering).
