2 fields of CSU Entered Top 1% on ESI

According to the latest data of the Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database released on March 18, 2016, the Computer Science, Molecular Biology and Genetics at CSU entered top 1% on the ESI global list, with the discipline of Materials Science remaining top 1‰ in the list. At present, CSU has 10 disciplines among the ESI global top 1%, ranking 15th in the national “985 project” universities of China.

The statistics indicated that from 2005 to 2015, the discipline of Computer Science at CSU has published a total number of 538 papers on ESI which have been cited 2774 times, ranking 373 among 391 research institutions which entered global top 1%. The discipline of Molecular Biology and Genetics has published a total number of 809 papers on ESI, and cited 10621 times, ranking 652 among 656 research institutions which enter global top 1%.

Among all the 22 disciplines in ESI assessment, CSU has published 24093 ESI papers in total, and the citation reached 167811 with average 6.97 times per document. Among 5134 institutions which enter ESI global top 1%, CSU rised to 564th in respect of total citation times. The following table shows other 8 disciplines which entered the ESI global top 1%. The latest statistics shows that the average citation times per document are rising gradually, indicating the academic influence keeps growing in relevant fields.

Furthermore, the statistics show the number of highly cited papers at CSU is 195, a new record in the ESI data assessment of the school.
